WELCOME TO THE FRATERNITY Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest social and charitable organisations. Its roots lie in the traditions of the medieval stonemasons who built our cathedrals and castles.

For Freemasons, there are four important values that help define their path through life: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity. In today’s world filled with uncertainty, these principles ring as true as they have at any point in the organisation’s history.

HOW TO JOIN
To become an Ohio Freemason, you must first meet the following criteria:

Be a male at least 19 years old
Be an Ohio resident for at least six months
Be able to read and write English
Be prepared to profess a belief in Deity
Be of good reputation as a man of honor and integrity
Be recommended by two members of the lodge you wish to join
Submit your membership inquiry below. When you do, you will be asked to provide contact information so that a representative from the Grand Lodge of the lodge in your area can get in touch to discuss your application. If you know of a particular lodge you want to join, please include that in the box asking your reason for interest.

Your inquiry will be referred to a local lodge or district. We will work to respond to your response within a few days, however, due to the volume of requests we receive it may take longer. The person calling you will be a member of the organization who volunteers his time to work with prospective members.

All men interested in becoming an Ohio Freemason may also be subject to a background check at the discretion of the Lodge. We are committed to helping our members meet men with whom they will build long-lasting friendships and camaraderie. In modern times, this is a greater challenge than ever. As such, any man asking to join our fraternity must be willing to undergo a vetting process.

YOUR JOURNEY AS A FREEMASON

When you become a Freemason, you embark on a lifelong obligation to uphold our timeless principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. As you progress throughout the three degrees of Freemasonry, Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and Master Mason, you will learn lessons of self-improvement at each stage through the history and philosophy of the Fraternity.

After your first meeting, you will be assigned a mentor who will work with you to answer your questions, help you become proficient in your degree knowledge, and attend lodge with you. You can move through the degrees at your own pace, but your mentor will always be encouraging you to take the next step. You will also get to know the other members of the lodge and begin new friendships.

After a man completes his initiatory journey and becomes a Master Mason, he will be entitled to participate in all the social, charitable, and fraternal activities of the lodge. However, nobody will encourage him to do anything he doesn’t want to do. He has been accepted into membership, and now he is free to live his Freemasonry as he chooses. That is one reason the Fraternity is named Free and Accepted Masons.
